Sis the Slugger!

I love coaching Maisy's sports! The only problem is that I don't get all the good pictures and footage when I am out there with her. Baseball season is officially over for us. She did awesome! She made it all season without using the tee once. Granted, I am the pitcher, which is an advantage for her, but still she always got her hits. Fielding is a little boring at this age. It takes so long for kids to hit the ball that there is a lot of waiting, not to mention it is always hot. We baked on that field. She loved playing first base, and actually got some outs there. She would stare down the opponent after she tagged the base, almost daring them to come any closer. Funny! She has the same bobble-head look with a helmet on that Carson has. It almost looks like their heads might just topple off when they are running the bases. It makes me laugh so hard. I probably looked like that as a kid.
I truly think Maisy has some real potential to be a good athlete. We need to find the right sport though. She has done well at all of them, but soccer seems to be where her heart is right now. She knows she is good at that. She is super aggressive and that is the only sport where she can get in there and get physical. I guess that is one benefit to keeping up with a big mean brother. I won't be coaching soccer, so you can guarantee there will be some good clips this fall.

Hit, Pitch, and Run! Our Boy WON!!!

What an exciting weekend! Carson participated in the Hit, Pitch, and Run contest at Busch Stadium on Saturday. He had won 2 other area competitions to make it there, and we were thrilled for him to have the opportunity be on the field at Busch. Of course, Jeremy and I were secretly dying for him to win too. We tried to keep those emotions in check, at least in front of Carson. My dad saw a few of my nervous outbursts, but there was no denying the pride in his family's eyes when they announced him as the winner. I thought my heart would explode. I guess that is what true happiness and pride feels like. I loved it. Carson was totally calm and collected the entire time. He was really nervous, but only we could tell. He pitched great to start off. He hit 3 of the 6 in the strike zone from 45 feet, which is a long way for a little guy to throw the ball. We had measured it off and practiced at home. It was a hard toss! Then was the hitting. He had a couple nice hits, a little off the tape, but good enough. Last they ran. He is surprisingly fast with those big feet. I guess it was enough to win. It was so nice to have family here to celebrate with us. Jeremy's parents, our niece and nephew, and my dad all made the trip. Carson felt really important. He continues to mention the competition in little comments, so I know it meant a lot to him. Now we just have to wait to hear if he did well enough to go to Phoenix for the All Star Game. We find out June 27th! We'll let you know!
