In the Gym

We had a gymnastics Open House this weekend.  Maisy was in rare form.  She was smiling from ear to ear, so happy, so excited!  It was fun to see her performing all her tricks.  We typically sit in the lobby and have to peek through the glass to watch them.  She is always peering back at me to make sure I am watching.  This weekend though, she had our undivided attention and rocked it!  I am super proud of her strength and dedication to the sport. She loves her teacher and everything about gymnastics.  She practices on her own, and has truly made some real progress. It is fun to see her so happy!

Biker Boy!

Knox is amazing on his little 2-wheeler!  We are going straight to a big boy bike once he can pedal well on his own.  He has got great balance and loves feeling like a big kid.  It has been so fun to watch him, but my heart is never too far from my throat as he speeds down the hill.  No longer is the driveway fast enough, he has to get a run back in the garage.
I am raising a totally different kid the third time.  It will be interesting to see how he turns out.  I don't think cautious is in his future.  Go, Biker Boy, GO!

My Sleeping Beauty

I crept into Maison's room the other night and took her picture. She is so pretty and peaceful when she sleeps, but it is so hard for her to get there. Poor kid. I fall asleep whenever I sit still, and my poor daughter is plagued with childhood insomnia. It has improved with full days of school, as she is just worn out, but it is still not a pleasant process. I was reminded by my dear friend of our previous sleep struggles, and I am happy to report there are no more "bad thoughts". Thankfully. She just hates going to bed. She doesn't throw fits or anything, just asks a million questions and has absurd requests. Still every night I hear, "Mommy will you check on me and lay with me, even if I am asleep?" I will miss that someday.

Easter Sunday

Knox is at the obnoxious "Cheese" phase. It is really hard to get a good smile from him.
Carson has my teeth/fangs. Poor kid. He is really cute anyway, at least I think so. Mom's are blinded by love.
They make me smile.
Mad at Mom!
As taught by my Grandma, no holiday is complete without a family photo...tripod and all!

It was a beautiful, peaceful Easter. The Easter Bunny even hopped by and left some treats on the porch. He, actually she, hid a bunch of eggs too. The kids were furious that we didn't have time to hunt before church. I included a picture of their arm crossed temper tantrum when I told them they had to wait. After a nice service we came home and hunted eggs. Knox got a head start, but was more into eating his treats than hunting eggs. It was really cute to watch them all running around gathering their goodies. Of course, Carson can turn everything into a competition, so it did get a little heated at the end. The kids were really happy with everything the Easter Bunny brought. Knox and Maisy both got ball gloves. Knox is a lefty. We are excited about developing a little South Paw. Carson was super excited about his watermelon growing kit. He is my little nurturing soul. He loves plants. Finally we had a late brunch reservation. We went and all stuffed our faces. Maisy got the best eater award. She grazed and grazed with one full plate after another. All in all it was a beautiful Easter. After a few years of flying solo for Easter, we have gotten used to our own little traditions here. It was a beautiful day together.
